Marketing Campaign Case Study
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Premiere at Westgate Cinemas
Kakic Universe developed and executed the launch campaign around Spider-Man: Brand New Day at Westgate Cinemas, building anticipation ahead of the premiere and turning release night into one of the venue’s strongest demand moments. VIP tickets sold out first, followed by the rest of the available tickets, before demand expanded across all four cinema screens and continued for days after the premiere.

Overview
Overview
As part of our ongoing brand and marketing partnership with Westgate Cinemas, Kakic Universe developed the campaign around the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Our role was to build anticipation before the premiere, create a strong sense of occasion around release night and convert that excitement into cinema attendance. Through coordinated promotional content, social media activity, audience engagement, partner activations and premiere coverage, the campaign created exceptional demand. VIP tickets sold out rapidly, followed by the remaining tickets, and Westgate ultimately allocated all four of its cinema screens to the movie to accommodate the audience.

The Opportunity
The Opportunity
Large franchise releases create a short window in which audience attention, anticipation and social conversation are at their highest. The strategic opportunity was to build around that moment early and deliberately, positioning Westgate Cinemas as the place to experience the release. Rather than relying only on the popularity of the film, the campaign needed to create its own momentum through content, event energy, brand activity and continuous audience engagement before and during opening weekend.
Our Approach
Our Approach
We built the campaign around anticipation, urgency and the idea that the premiere itself was an entertainment experience worth being part of.
Build Anticipation Early
We developed pre-release content and social activity that gave audiences repeated reasons to engage with the film and associate its arrival with Westgate Cinemas.
Create Premiere Urgency
The campaign positioned the premiere as a limited, high-energy experience, helping turn audience interest into early ticket purchases and rapid VIP sell-out.
Turn Release Night Into an Event
We supported the premiere with event activity, partner engagement and on-the-ground coverage so the launch felt bigger than a standard movie screening.
Amplify Demand in Real Time
As tickets sold and audience interest intensified, social content and event coverage reinforced the momentum, creating further urgency around remaining screenings.
Keep Momentum After Premiere
We continued supporting the release beyond opening night, allowing the campaign energy to carry into subsequent days as audiences continued seeking tickets.

Production Highlight
Production Highlight
The campaign began with pre-release promotion designed to build anticipation and position Westgate Cinemas at the centre of the conversation. As premiere demand accelerated, VIP tickets sold out first and general ticket availability followed. Westgate responded by increasing the number of screens allocated to the movie until Spider-Man: Brand New Day was playing across all four cinemas. Even after available sessions had sold out, customers continued arriving at the venue trying to secure tickets. The level of public interest was significant enough that competing cinemas brought forward their own release activity in response to the demand surrounding the film, but Westgate continued to attract the strongest audience pull.
Results
Results
The premiere achieved rapid VIP sell-out before all remaining tickets were sold, eventually leading Westgate Cinemas to screen the movie across all four of its cinemas. Demand continued even after sessions had reached capacity, with customers still arriving in search of tickets and overflow audiences moving to other cinemas only once Westgate could no longer accommodate them. The momentum did not end on premiere night: screenings remained sold out across the following days, with three consecutive days of full-capacity demand from the premiere. The campaign reinforced Westgate’s positioning as a destination for major movie releases and demonstrated how intentional launch marketing can turn a film opening into a wider brand and audience event.
